A Pelican at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary!

This is my first blog for this year and it is also about yesterday which was my first bird shoot for the year 2016.  It is also about the presence of a pelican at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary which is rare and there has only been about seven recorded pelican sightings in UAE in the past prior to  this.  The pelican is actually thousands of miles away from it’s migratory route.

Birders and wildlife photographers, like me, have flocked Hide 1 at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary to catch a glimpse and maybe a photograph of this rare but nevertheless most welcomed visitor.  Prior to yesterday, about a week ago, I got to see the pelican from afar but I didn’t get a chance to photograph it.  Yesterday, I was really lucky because the pelican came close to the hide, not once, but twice!  Together with the other birds (spoonbills, glossy ibis, egrets, cormorants and seagulls), the pelican joined the feeding frenzy close to the hide twice.

Here are my images of that pelican….. Enjoy! =)

More than the pelican, I was blessed with the opportunity of capturing into photographs our lovely creatures at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.  Here are those photos….. Enjoy.
